Scary Stories 3 More Tales To Chill Your Bones: The Red Spot…

Who out there remembers these??? Took a look and came across one of my old favorites, you be the judge if it chills your bones or not lol…

While Ruth slept, a spider crawled across her face, stayed there for a minute, then went away.

“What is this red spot on my cheek?” she asked her mother the next morning.
“Looks like a spider bite.” her mother said. “It’ll go away, just don’t scratch it.”
Soon the spot grew into a red boil. “Look at it now,” Ruth said, “It’s getting bigger.”
“That sometimes happens.” her mother said. “It’s coming to a head.”
In a few days the boil was even larger.”Look at it now.” Ruth said. “It hurts and it’s ugly.”
“We’ll have a doctor look at it, maybe it’s infected.” her mother said. But the doctor couldn’t see her until the next day.
That night Ruth took a bath. As she soaked herself, the boil burst. Out poured a swarm of spiders from the eggs the mother laid in her cheek.

The Makeover Club ~ Suzanne Weyn ~ Review #75

Best friends Marsha, Sara and Clarissa are fed up with girls like Doris Gaylord, who by there thinking was just an airhead with a pretty face who flirted with every boy she came in contact with, Marsha was totally crushing on star football hero Craig Lawrence, while Clarissa had her eyes on going steady with the captain of the basketball team, but with Doris flirting around and acting like a jerk, nobody else had a chance…

Until they decide it’s time to fight back, if you can’t beat them join they say and thus came The Makeover Club, exercise, hairdos, clothes and makeup we’re a must, it all had to change it was the only way they could ever get boys to notice them the way the do Doris, especially with the sweethearts dance two weeks away!!! Would all there hard work be worth it???

A sweet coming of age story that follows the typical formula you’d expect, the life of a teenager certainly isn’t all its cracked up to be in the 90s, worth checking out for a quick read….

Ann M. Martin ~ TBSCΒ #4 Mary Anne Saves The Day ~ Review #40

My return back to the wonderful world of TBSC found a few on my thrift adventures and at eight for a dollar how could I not splurge a little, I was a little worried the cover had me wonder if this one had anything interesting, but wow did it deliver and then some…

So rite out the gate we start in the mix of a fight, not sure how or why but it seems all the club members are mad at each other, had a feeling it was gonna be over a boy or something but it seems its over work, looks like Kristy took a high dollar job and didn’t inform any of the other members, which we all know is against the rules, they all argue about it a while then end up all leaving and going home, I guess the meeting was over….

So we find ourselves at school and none of the girls are hanging with each other, Mary Ann has found herself all alone at the lunch table and she’s approached by a new friend, they seem to hit it off well, until the other members notice and jelousy shows itself and a fight starts again…
Do the girls patch things up? Does Mary’s new friend have a hidden agenda? If all the girls are fighting who’s doing any babysitting?

I liked this one this one it was a good one it went in a direction I didn’t a series like this would, glad to see it wasn’t a boy or a pet that had them so angered at each other, it showed the characters as being a bit more human than just the typical idea of what they felt a teenager should be….

Ann M. Martin ~ TBSC #37 Dawn And The Older Boy ~ Review #29

Oh the memories of The Babysitters Club, I can’t say I remember reading any of the series as a kid, I think I was into Encyclopedia Brown at the time or something, but I saw the book today and for the sake of nostalgia I thought I’d give it look, and man was this one a doozy lol, I don’t know if they’re all like this but I’m tempted to read the whole series…😎

So after a most wonderful sleepover at Kristy’s house Dawn sees what she calls “the cutest guy in the world” they introduce themselves and we find out the mystery mans name is Travis, since no self respecting teenage girl dare be seen first thing in the morning without having there face on Dawn goes upstairs to freshen up for the boys, Dawn returns and is delighted to see Travis hasn’t left, they talk a bit a come to find out they both spent time in California, and with that our dear Dawn has begun too fall, Travis being the gentleman that he is tells her she should always wear blue it would bring out her eyes more, kinda strange but Dawn seems cool with it, I mean come on it is Travis after all…πŸ˜•

So later Dawn and Mary Ann are talking and she asks her if love at first sight is real, Mary Ann tells her yeah, and Dawn loses it Mary Ann figures out she was asking it about her and who else but the one and only Travis, Mary Ann tries to speak some sense to Dawn but she wouldn’t here it and an obsession begins….😲

A few days go by and Travis shows up at Dawn’s house, how he found her place or what he wanted is beyond me, he says they need to have a talk, so they sit on the porch, because remember girls no boys allowed in the house when the parents are away…😝

I guess at some point they start talking and from the looks of it Travis is a real A double snakes, he interrupts her a lot and only seems to be concerned with talking about the things that are important to him you know sports and stuff, even with all that Dawn still seems interested and then comes the atomic bomb, Travis tells Dawn all the ways she should change herself for him to like her more, he says he’s having feelings and if she were to change it could only make them go deeper rite, before Dawn could answer he gives her a necklace and some hair combs to show how serious he was, and nothing says I’m serious more than hair combs…πŸ’‡

Few days go by and Travis meets Dawn at school and asks her to go shopping with him, his dads birthday is coming up, Dawn kicks her friends to the curb and away they go, after they shop he brings her to Burger Bite, not the best place given Dawn is vegan but whatever, she does get nervous when Travis takes it upon himself to order for the both of them but luckily he orders a grilled cheese, they talk a while or I should say Travis does and tells her of all his many athletic accomplishments as of late, after there wonderful chat Travis decides they should take a walk downtown, Dawn having no say in the matter agrees and they end up at the merry go round, Travis buys her some butterfly earrings and suggests she get another hole punched in her ear so she can wear them for him, not sure why she just couldn’t take out the ones she already had but ok, to Travis’s surprise she says no he gets frustrated and he drops her home…πŸ™…

Dawn comes home to see her parents and Mary Ann waiting for her, her parents disapprove of the fact that 16 year boy is spending all this time with there 13 year old daughter and buying her stuff all the time, before they can question Dawn about it, the parents get into it over if she should see him again, and Dawn goes to her room, I guess Mary Ann was just watching TV or something….πŸ“Ί

Later that week Kristy sees the unimaginable Travis was flirting with the captain of the girls swim team!!! Kristy tells Dawn and she’s crushed, wanting to see for herself Dawn rides her bike to the high school to meet with Travis and to her hearts dismay she sees him hand in hand with another girl, she hides behind a tree so he doesn’t see her then heartbreak comes when she sees Travis kiss her on the cheek….😞

Another babysitters meeting comes up and all the girls are gossiping as usual and the conversation turns to Travis, Dawn’s still angry about it all and she tells them about what she saw, Dawn says she wants Travis to know that she knows he’s a player, so she rides her bike to the high school again and meets up with Travis and the swim captain, she approaches them and Travis seems like he could careless, with tears in her eyes she rides home, later that night she calls him on the phone and tells Travis that they are over, the girls rejoice at the next babysitters meeting and are so happy for Dawn’s bravery they laugh about it and then continue there babysitters meeting….πŸ™Œ

Wow… Where in the world do I begin, I can’t believe this was the stuff kids were reading lol, but I guess the message is a positive one in the end, I don’t like the idea of Travis being 16 and Dawn 13 but I guess it’s a thing, I really don’t like the idea of Travis ordering Dawn for his own personal gain, but i guess that’s a thing too I guess, I like how it shows teens they don’t need such craziness in there life…😎

I really do wonder if the whole series is so outrageous, I think I’ll take a peak sometime too see what the others have to offer, this one was definitely an interesting one lol, I hope the others are too…πŸ˜‚
